Michigan will be without true freshman running back Kareem Walker for an undisclosed amount of time so he can focus on academics, head coach Jim Harbaugh said on Monday.
Walker, an early enrollee, did not appear in the team photo and was not seen on the U-M sideline during the Wolverines' 63-3 victory over Hawaii on Saturday.
"[Kareem] is working through some things academically," Harbaugh said during his weekly press conference. "Less football, we're giving him the ability to concentrate on academics for the next weeks. We'll get some progress reports but we want to make sure he's doing the job in that regard before football full-time. Or, half-time. Full-time academics."
Whether Walker returns to the team this season is currently up in the air.
