Colvin Says Yes To U-M Visit, No To Army All-Stars

Don Hoekwater talked to the godfather of Concord, Calif. De La Salle WR Cameron Colvin. The U-M/Notre Game is shaping up as quite a recruiting event!

"Cameron came and told me ... that Chad Henne picked Michigan."

Don touched base again with Jay Lightner, the godfather of Cameron Colvin (possible Sept. 13 visitor, STAN Nike stats: 6-1, 188 lbs., 4.31 in the 40, 3.85 shuttle, 32.4 inch vertical, 13 bench press reps. … 2.3 GPA/16 ACT) from Concord, Calif., DeLaSalle.

"We're coming to Michigan for the Notre Dame game, for Cameron's official visit. We play Archbishop Mitty in San Jose the night before (GBW's Don Hoekwater will be there covering the game). Then we're going to catch the redeye out of San Francisco. We'll arrive in Detroit at 10 in the morning. We'll rest a bit then go on over to Michigan. Cameron is looking forward to it, and I'm looking forward to going back East too."

Regarding how things stand recruiting-wise for Cameron.

"Michigan is still Cameron's top school. He also plans to take official visits to to Miami, Oklahoma, Florida State, and LSU. SC is back in it too. SC had told us they were moving (incoming frosh WR) Whitney Lewis to running back, and we didn't believe them. But they have moved him. Cameraon will take another look at USC ... I don't think he'll take an official visit there."

"Cameron is following things as far as recruiting goes. He came and told me the day it happened that Chad Henne picked Michigan. Cameron would like to meet Chad if he's there for the game."

Regarding the US Army All-Star Game.

"Cameron has decided to play in Cal-Florida all star game. So he told US Army All-Star Game guys yesterday that he is NOT going to play there (the games are both the first weekend in January). Cameron is not sure if he'll announce his decision during the game, because he may not be able to get all his visits in before-hand. He does want to take all five visits."

Colvin is's #16 prospect. As a junior he caught 14 passes for 405 yards (28.9 yards per catch) and four touchdowns.
