One of the youngest and biggest visitors at Michigan’s season opener against Hawaii was Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian 2019 offensive tackle Christopher Hinton Jr. The young lineman phenom recaps his trip to Ann Arbor and a family tie with the Wolverine program.
“The visit was great,” Hinton Jr. told The Michigan Insider. “We toured the facilities, we got to go on the field pregame and watch warm ups. It was just a great experience all around. I got to talk to the defensive line coach and a couple of other people on the staff. They were just talking about the program. One thing that stood out was everyone we did talk to brought up education and I really liked that part. Also a funny thing, the defensive line coach (Greg Mattison) was on the Northwestern coaching staff when my pops was at Northwestern haha! I knew a little bit about it and when they saw each other they were just reminiscing on old times haha!”
The 6-foot-5, 267-pounder has a lot of football left to be played in his high school career, but already holds a few early offers in his recruitment. His first offer dating back in January from the Wolverines, which he admits he was extremely excited about and after visiting, looks at the Maize and Blue in high regard.
“I liked Michigan and after visiting I finally got to get a better feel of what the program is about,” said Hinton Jr. “The game was great, the energy and the fans and everything that came with that was a great experience. I think highly of Michigan.”
Hinton Jr. plans on going to Georgia on October 1st for their match-up against Tennessee
