Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh acknowledged there would be a kicking competition in practice this week, updates Quinn Nordin's status.

One surprising development early this season for Michigan is the struggles of senior kicker Kenny Allen.

After missing just four field goals all of 2015, the senior has already missed four in five games to start 2016.

Saturday against Wisconsin, Allen missed his first two field goal attempts, prompting Michigan to turn to Ryan Tice for the third attempt of the game. Tice missed that try as well, leaving the Wolverines with an issue heading into a road game at Rutgers Saturday night.

"Today's the first day," Harbaugh said Monday. "We'll see."

The wild card in the competition could be true freshman and former No. 1 kicking recruit in the country Quinn Nordin.

Nordin has not appeared in a game thus far this season and according to Harbaugh, Nordin is working through an injury and the Wolverines will be taking a wait and see approach.
