Schweiger Visit Update

GBW talked to San Jose, CA (Valley Christian) DE Jeff Schweiger's father earlier today and he hinted that it may be too late to set up a visit to U-M for the Aug. 30 Central Michigan game. This afternoon we talked to Jeff himself, and he updated us on his plans.

Jeff Schweiger's (Nike Camp stats: 6-4, 240 lbs., 4.56 in the 40, 4.11 in the shuttle, 31 bench press reps, 30.9 inch vertical ... 3.0 GPA) father told GBW's Tom Beaver this morning that, "We're still working on a Michigan visit for this weekend. We'll see if it is too late for Michigan to set it up." This afternoon I caught up with Schweiger between practice and his afternoon workout, "I can't come this weekend, the coaches said five days notice wasn't enough time to get a visit set up. The only other bye-week I have available would be the weekend of Oct. 11th, but Michigan has an away game that weekend (Minnesota)."

Although the schedule is tight, Schweiger mentioned he would be open to taking the same course as Concord De La Salle WR Cameron Colvin, "We could take a flight out after one of my games. The Michigan-Notre Dame game is a 3:30pm start so it's possible, I could do that, no problem."

Schweiger had earlier trimmed his list of schools down to five, and nothing has changed. "USC, Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami, and Notre Dame. I don't really have a favorite and I don't have any other visits set up, official or un-official."

Recently Greg Biggins of The Insiders told GoBlueWolverine that, "Whille Schweiger is open to his list of five, USC is going to be tough to beat."

Valley Christian opens the season September 5th agains Hollister.
