Harbaugh: Good thing for U-M to be tested

Despite the Wolverines struggles against the Spartans, head coach Jim Harbaugh was happy to regain the Paul Bunyan Trophy and have some moments to learn from going forward.

Going into Michigan’s in-state battle against Michigan State, the No. 2 ranked Wolverines were heavy favorites with both teams going in opposite directions this season. However, the Spartans pushed the Wolverines in this rivalry game, but went on to fall 32-23. Although it wasn't the best performance by the Maize and Blue this year, head coach Jim Harbaugh was satisfied to walk out victorious and still have plenty of room for improvements.

“There are going to be some things to teach off this past game, which is a good thing,” said Harbaugh. “It was good that our defense was tested and there are things we can improve. That is for all our players and us coaches. Good opportunity for us to make further improvements.”

Harbaugh’s advice to people still looking back at the Michigan State game?

“Onward, onward,” said Harbaugh. "I have already said this a bunch of times, but it was the great thrill of victory, wonderful, wonderful feeling of winning and our team was tested. It was a good thing. Look forward to coaching things and improving this week. Onward to this big game that is in front of us. Championship ball game against Maryland.”
