Michigan coach John Beilein is open to several different possibilities in reference to freshmen big men Jon Teske and Austin Davis.

A decision is coming soon regarding the immediate future of freshmen big men Jon Teske and Austin Davis.

On the eve of Michigan's season opener with Howard at Crisler Center Friday night, John Beilein intimated several different possibilities are still at play, including both redshirting or both seeing the floor.

"I'm going to talk with both of them," Beilein said Thursday. "We really waited until the last hour on this one but i'm going to talk with them today and tomorrow a little bit about what it is. We may need one of them in the game.

"This Howard team averaged 30 foul shots a game and we averaged 16 or something so they get to the line, get to the line. We've got to be ready for one of those guys to help us."

Both Teske and Davis saw action in the Wolverines exhibition opener against Armstrong State. Teske scored four-points in four minutes of play, Davis adding two-points in three minutes.

Still, Beilein won't be in the business of forcing either to make a decision.

"That's going to be up to them," Beilein said. "I want to be very transparent with what it means to redshirt, the advantages, the disadvantages, everything."

Beilein did admit he has changed his approach to potential fifth-year players noting each are guaranteed a four year scholarship. Beyond that, a student-athlete would have to earn the extra year of eligibility.
