Preview: Michigan vs. Ohio State

The Michigan Insider previews 'The Game.'

This weekend is what 'The Game' is all about.

It's Michigan vs. Ohio State with major playoff and conference championship implications in play. If Ohio State wins, it'll need some help to get to the conference championship game. However, there's good chance the Buckeyes will crack the top four with a victory. For the Wolverines, a win will win the division, a trip to the conference championship and extremely good odds to punch their ticket to the playoffs.

The Michigan Insider previews the upcoming game.

Last meeting: Ohio State defeated Michigan 42-13 last season in Ann Arbor.

What a win means for Michigan: Both of these teams need to come away with a win on Saturday but only one will walk away victorious. A victory on Saturday for the Wolverines would be bigger than words could describe. The Buckeyes' dominance of this rivalry as of late is well documented, a win of this magnitude would help ease those frustrations a little bit. This game could very well determine which team from the Big Ten Conference could appear in the playoffs.

What a win means for Ohio State: A victory for the Buckeyes ends the season on a high note. While it needs help to get to the conference championship game, it's likely Ohio State might not need to appear in it to make the playoffs. A Buckeyes victory on Saturday would mean that Michigan still has a long way to go to close the gap Ohio State has created.

Player to watch: All eyes are on J.T. Barrett, the obvious choice for player to watch this week. The Buckeyes offense will live and die by his legs and arm. Last season, Barrett destroyed the Wolverines with his legs last season and the rushing yardage will be an obvious point of emphasis heading into the game on Saturday. It's likely that Barrett is going to have to beat the Wolverines with his arm if the defense makes it difficult to run, can he get the job done?
