In front his family, friends and an national TV audience, Aledo (Texas) 2017 four-star tackle Chuck Filiaga announced his commitment to Michigan.

But really, Filiaga admitted to TMI’ Sam Webb, he’s been committed to the Wolverines for a while now.

“I decided when, I don’t want colleges to hate, but when he did my in-home (visit with Michigan),” Filiaga said, recalling the reaction from his main recruiters, U-M coaches Jim Harbaugh and Tim Drevno. “They were on a roller coaster, they were going up. They were jumping all over the place. They were like kids on a sugar rush.”

Ultiomatley, why did Filiaga decide to become Blue? Well, he says his official visit for the Michigan-Wisconsin game on Oct. 1 played a huge role in his decision.

“It was just family, great environment for me, a great coaching staff that can help me prepare for the NFL,” Filiaga said. “Coach Harbaugh was definitely a character, same with coach Drevno. It was just everything about Michigan I loved on my visit.”

Now that he’s a Wolverine, Filiaga says Michigan plans on starting him out at left tackle, and his plan is to come in as a freshman and compete for a starting role.

“Well, you know I just got to get in there,” Filiaga said. “No promises (that) I was promised a spot. But I just got to get in there and do my work.”
