HIS RECRUITING STORY
Tarik Black was a highly sought after recruit who, at one time, was thought to be headed to Notre Dame. After Michigan applied the pressure, and countless visits to campus, Black made his decision to join the Wolverines in December. He is also an early-enrollee.
"Black is a big target who tracks the ball well and high-points his catches. He goes over the middle and can also get down the field. He has big hands to secure the ball and tucks it quickly. He gets off the line well and is quick in and out of breaks. He knows how to use his size against the defensive backs. He needs to add strength to be more physical down the field and also to be a more effective blocker." -- Brian Dohn
"Their big selling point is to come in and play right away," Black said. "They're losing a lot of guys. They said I could come in and be that big receiver, that 'X' receiver, or that 'Z' receiver and come in and make an impact right away."
With depth an issue at the wide receiver position, Black can come in right away and compete for a starting position during spring practice. Becoming an early-enrollee is important for his development compared to the other freshman entering campus later in the year. He will be able to get into a college weight program and is very likely to see the field as a true freshman.
