HIS RECRUITING STORY:
Oliver Martin exploded onto the recruiting scene with a stellar performance during Nike’s Opening Finals in July, and Michigan offered the four-star wide receiver during the last day of the camp. After taking in a trip for the recruiting barbecue, coming back for the Wisconsin game, then taking an official visit this past weekend, he committed to Michigan after famously taking a pool dive with Jim Harbaugh while on his official visit.
“Very skilled, technical wideout. Excellent route runner with great hands and ability to make catches in traffic. Smart and understands how to get open. Very good athlete with good quickness, leaping ability and body control. Competitive, hard working kid. At 6-foot-1, 188 pounds, he has good size, but is not as big in comparison to other top outside receivers.” -- National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu
WHY MARTIN CHOSE MICHIGAN?
"I am proud and excited to announce my commitment to play football at the University of Michigan," he Tweeted on Monday. "Go Blue!"
Playing on the same team with fellow U-M commits Dylan McCafrey and Ambry Thomas among others at the Opening, Martin showed he clearly belong amongst the elite players in the country. At 6-foot-1, 188-pounds, he can play inside or outside, and has incredible hands and route running skills for a young receiver. Don’t under estimate his speed either, because he’ll blow by his defender, and should see the field early as a freshman in 2017.
