Jim Harbaugh and company has reeled in the big fish for the second time this cycle.
For the second class in a row, Michigan has landed one of the top-tier talents on the defensive line after five-star Aubrey Solomon committed to the Wolverines on live television on national signing day.
One of the major factors for securing Solomon's commitment could be circled back to Harbaugh's efforts during a recent home visit. The visit went so well, in fact, that Solomon's mother called it the 'best visit ever.'
“Just finished such an awesome in-home visit where we bowled, raced cars & finished a pre-k project celebrating 100 days of school for Lee County Pre-K," Solomon’s mother Sabrina Caldwell told The Michigan Insider earlier this month. “He brought his daughter and it was the best visit ever.”
After shocking the world with a commitment to U-M earlier this summer, many were expecting Solomon's pledge to not stick. He eventually decommitted a few months later but U-M did not give up hope. An unfortunate mishap on a live video might've tipped his hand into the thought process during Army Bowl preparations. However, Solomon insisted that wasn't the case.
“I talked to Coach Partridge and Coach Harbaugh and just said I’m sorry for my actions and they’re still like #1 on my list,” Solomon told The Michigan Insider. “I told them, ‘please, please don’t take it to heart.’ It was just all the things that happened I guess finally let out. But by no means does it mean that I don’t want to go to Michigan, because Michigan is my top school… one of my top schools.”
Solomon joins commits Deron-Irving Bey, Kwity Paye, Donovan Jeter, James Hudson, Luiji Vilain, Corey Malone-Hatcher and Phil Paea to round out the 2017 defensive lineman haul.
