Moments afterwards, the three-star standout discussed his offer with The Michigan Insider.
“It’s really crazy for me,” Thomas said of his Michigan offer. “I mean every offer that I have, it’s just crazy for me because I thought I would never have them. It’s really just a blessing and a gift that I have a Michigan Wolverines offer. It’s just crazy.”
Now that he has his offer from the Wolverines, Thomas says his next stop will hopefully be in Ann Arbor for a U-M practice this spring.
“I have to go visit,’ he exclaimed. “I have to. I want to see pretty much everything. I want to see coach (Jim) Harbaugh.”
And the Michigan headman has already made quite the impression on Thomas, who had a chance to meet him during U-M’s satellite camp stop in Springfield, Ohio, last year.
“He’s really a great man,” Thomas said of Harbaugh. “He really cares about his kids. I just want to see him in action. I went to one of his camps and he’s really great, he’s really funny. He just brings a lot of energy.”
Along with Michigan, Thomas also holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan State, among others. And whichever school he decides to commit to eventually, he made it known what he’s looking for in his future program.
“I’m looking for who is going to keep it real,” he said of one his multiple factors. “And who is going to help me to become successful. When I get there it’s not about the four years, it’s about the next 40 years. Whoever got the best help, like tutors, and that can be real with me, that’s who I am going to pick.”
As of right now, Thomas says his plan is to announce his commitment on national signing day.
