Theodore (Ala.) 2018 defensive tackle Timaje Porter is a self-described college football fan, who isn’t shy to name his top schools he rooted for growing up.
“My top five basically is Florida, Auburn, Michigan, Penn State and LSU, they’re all schools I had to watched growing up,” he said. “If I didn’t watch those games, that was it, because those are the schools right there. To me if you don’t go to one of those schools, then what’s the point of going to school at all?”
Luckily to him, the three-star standout already holds offers from Auburn and Florida respectively. Michigan, who has shown interest earlier this year, has yet to offer, but would be “dream” scenario if they did, says Porter.
“An offer from Michigan would be a dream come true,” he said. “Considering who I am and where I am from, that would rank in some of top moments in my life.”
If offered, Porter says he would like to visit Michigan for spring practice or participate in U-M’s football camp this summer.
“What I look for in a college is how the campus is setup, because that’s big part of me getting to class and stuff,” he said. “I mean, if you don’t have the grades you can’t play. I want to see their faculties, because if they’re a top-notch program, and if they have a top notch facility, then I know I can get the best and workout with the best.”
That being said, Porter says he would like to announce his commitment before his senior season.
“I would like to commit before my senior year so I get the recruiting process over with,” he said. “And so I can get my heart set, so I don’t have to worry about it during my football season and I can focus more on my team.”
