Florida 2018 safety "lost for words" by U-M offer

Naples (Fla.) 2018 safety Sammy Faustin saw his recruitment continue when he picked up an offer from the Wolverines and talks about his interest level

The state of Florida is a major hotbed for talent and the Wolverines have looked to dip into the Sunshine State for some of it. Michigan has been active recently, offering many new prospects including rising Naples (Fla.) 2018 safety Sammy Faustin.

“I was on the phone with (Defensive Coordinator) Coach (Don) Brown and (Defensive Backs) Coach (Brian) Smith and he told me,” Faustin told The Michigan Insider. “I was very ecstatic and appreciative for the opportunity. I was just lost for words. The Michigan offer that I received means a lot to me. I am very thankful and appreciative for the opportunity to play at one of these great schools.”

The Wolverine coaches talked to the 6-foot-2, 175-pound rangy defender more about the school following extending the offer, but also knows Michigan is definitely an ascending program too.

“I know they're in the Big Ten conference and they have done a really good job this past season,” said Faustin. “I really like their team. They flat out make plays on both sides of the ball and their uniforms/accessories are nice!”

Faustin has now earned over double-digit offers, but says there are no favorites yet. However, his latest offer from the Wolverines is one he plans to look much more closely by taking a visit to Ann Arbor in the future.

“Yeah, I plan to visit and maybe sometime in April (I’ll visit Michigan).”
