Raleigh (NC) Sanderson 2018 defensive end Alim McNeill is starting to become a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder has been racking up the offers over the past few weeks and now sits with 26. One of his latest offers came from Big Ten country in the Michigan Wolverines, who see McNeill as a player full of versatility.
“Coach (Chris) Partridge told me and I was very excited,” McNeill told The Michigan Insider. “He said I can play many positions at Michigan like defensive end, defensive tackle and linebacker. They don’t know which position I would play yet, but I think it's going to give me maximum opportunity to play right away.”
While the possible different usages in Ann Arbor are very appealing to McNeill, the chance to play under Jim Harbaugh could be even more.
“I’m very interested,” said McNeill. “Coach Harbaugh is a legendary coach and it would be special to be coached by him. I think he's a great coach and one of the things that I like about him is he will give it to you straight up. He will not sugar coat anything and he's a great coach! Legendary!”
Despite his lengthy offer list, he still hasn't narrowed down anything in his recruitment just yet. However, his plan going forward is to check out and brush up more on some of his suitors like the Maize and Blue. =
“Yeah, (I plan on visiting Michigan) this summer, but no exact date yet,” said McNeill. “Will want to learn more about their academics.”
