FRISCO, Texas -- Surprisingly, four-star defensive end Cameron Latu hasn’t had much contact with Michigan’s coaching staff.
In fact, the Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus standout says he’s only communicated a few times with U-M’s staff through social media.
However, if the Wolverines were to extend an offer his way, he says he would would “absolutely” look at Michigan harder in his recruitment.
“I think Michigan is a phenomenal football team,” he said. “After I watched that Ohio State versus Michigan game, I think Michigan is a great team. I would absolutely look forward to looking into them if they were to extend an offer.”
Adding: “I think I should go out there and visit them and see what Michigan has to offer.”
What would he want to see on his potential visit?
“No. 1 is stadium, I heard the stadium is wild over there,” he said. “I just want to meet the coaches and see how I feel with them. Just look around the facilities and see if they match all the other schools I’ve been to.”
Currently, Latu holds notable offers from Alabama, USC and Washington, among others, and pointed out that connecting with the coaches will play a huge role in his recruitment.
“My No.1 is (if I’m) comfortable with the coaches,” he said. “I like to be comfortable with the coach I’ll be with the next four years, just feel like him with them.”
As of right now, Latu has no commitment deadline, but noted that it could happen at anytime.
“I just feel like once I feel like I want to commit somewhere, I’ll commit right there that day.” he said. “I’m not going to wait till signing day.”
