FRISCO, Texas – When you’re the No. 1 running back out of Texas, top offers are expected to come your way.
And, well, they have for Carthage (Texas) High’s Keaontay Ingram, who holds notable offers from Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, among others. Those offers from local programs are expected, though, and yet when asked to reflect about his offer from Michigan, Ingram had high praise for the Wolverines at The Opening regional camp just outside Dallas on Sunday.
“You know when I got that offer I was shocked,” Ingram said of Michigan. “Not everybody gets an offer like that, a big offer like that. (U-M’s) staff is like an NFL staff in college football. That really sticks out about them. I feel like coach (Jim) Harbaugh he knows what he’s doing. Obviously he does, he’s been in the NFL”
Adding: “I really like Michigan.”
However, Ingram says he has yet to make plans for a potential visit to U-M anytime soon.
“Of course going way up there it’s not easy, so hopefully I’ll fit them in the schedule,” he said. “I’m not scheduling to go to Michigan right now.”
Although, he says he’s hopeful he can make his way up to Ann Arbor to compare U-M’s campus to other top schools.
“I feel what sticks out about them from other schools, that’s what I go into schools looking at,” he said. “I really want to talk to the coaching staff and see the stuff that they run, get to meet the people, the players and stuff like that.”
Adding: “I feel like distance won’t have anything to do with it,” he said. “If it feels like home, it feels like home, and that’s where I’m going to go.”
As of right now, Ingram says he has no leader in his recruitment and has no timetable set for his planned commitment.
“Right now I’m talking to everybody everyday,” he said of his leaderboard. “I don’t have one right now. Hopefully soon I’ll narrow down my list. … I’m just going to go with the process, go with the flow,” he said. “Whatever happens happens. When I feel like the time is right, I’ll pull the trigger.”
