No. 11 DE Jarell Cherry has ‘strong interest’ in Michigan

Dallas (Texas) Carter 2018 defensive end Jarell Cherry reflects on his Michigan offer and more.

Dallas (Texas) Carter 2018 defensive end Jarell Cherry admits it was unexpected when he first heard the news of his Michigan offer.

“I would probably say it was out of nowhere,” Cherry recalled. “I had Michigan come up to the school before, (my high school) coach is actually the one who told me. And soon as I heard that news it was a complete blessing, I couldn’t of asked for anything bigger that day.”

While Cherry has notable offers from Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma among others, he says he is looking hard at the Wolverines.

“I am considering this team, I have a strong interest in them,” he said. “I really don’t have a list made up yet. But I am looking at Michigan.”

And, of course, he would like to make his way to Ann Arbor for a visit.

“I would just want to be able to see their dorm rooms and be able to see what type of classrooms I would be in, and see what classes I would be majoring in as a field,” Cherry said. “Just being able to get to know some of the players, some players probably came out of Texas and see what they think about the campus.”

Adding: “I just want to meet the team and see what they think about it.”

Also, he says he would like to meet Michigan’s headman himself, Jim Harbaugh.

“I would like to meet him, but I haven’t got to meet him yet. Especially with him being head coach, I now he’s very famous with everything he has done, to meet him that’s a great thing to do,” Cherry said.

As far as a decision timeline, Cherry says he plans to announce his commitment sometime this summer.
