There was excitement in the air when GBW broke the news last week that St. Martinsville (Louisiana) standout WR Early Doucet (LSU Camp stats: 6-2, 212 lbs., 4.4 in the 40 ... 3.23 GPA/18 ACT), TheInsiders' #1 wide receiver, and #6 overall prospect, was going to visit U-M along with De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) WR Cameron Colvin the weekend of September 13 for the Notre Dame game. Things have changed though.
"It was such short notice that arrangements couldn't be made for me to go with Early on the visit, so we had to postpone it until later," Carla JeanBatist, Doucet's sister and gaurdian, told GBW. "We talked to the coaches and they understood. We're going to try again sometime after the season, possibly in December."
Ms. JeanBatist said she wants to visit the campus with her brother, "I was uncomfortable with Early going up there alone. They (The U-M Staff) were able to make arrangements for him but it was too late for me to arrange to go with him."
Jay Lightner, Cameron Colvin's Godfather, first informed GBW of the desire for Doucet to visit Michigan with Colvin and of their desire to attend school together. He had spoken with Doucet and the issue involved Ms. JeanBatist's work schedule, "It was such short notice that Carla was unable to get the time off work. She really wants to go with him to meet the coaches and see the campus. They are still definitely planning on going."
Colvin had this to say, "I'm disappointed for sure, but it just couldn't be helped. It doesn't change my plans though, I'm still going. We have Friday off from school and I'm flying out that morning. Early and I will probably visit Miami together along with Lavelle Hawkins later in the year. After the Michigan visit I'm not taking any more until after the season is over."
