College football recruiting offers are being sent out earlier and earlier in the recruiting process and the same can be said for Catawissa (Pa.) Southern Columbia 2020 athlete Julian Fleming. The talented youngster wasn’t thinking any schools would be considering him yet or offered him, but all that changed when he recently landed his first offer from the Michigan Wolverines.
“My football coach called me down and we called and they talked for a little bit,” Fleming told The Michigan Insider. “They then asked how I was and said they were offering me a scholarship. I was just speechless. No, not at all (was I expecting it). It's huge (Michigan was my first offer) and I never thought I would get any college interested already. It's huge they were first and I think that may affect my future decision.”
After receiving his first offer from the Maize and Blue, he now wants to learn more about Michigan and visit in the future.
“I like the coach and always hear positive things about them,” said Fleming. “I'm really excited to go on a visit and see the place. This spring I think my family and I are going to visit.”
At 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, Fleming showed last season to be a major contributor on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback while also helping his team reach the PIAA Class AA Championship Game.
However, his bread and butter came at wide out catching 36 passes for 956 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. It’s not a flashy game he brings to the gridiron, but a very productive one.
“I'm different, not really going to put a bunch of moves on you,” said Fleming. “I just pick up as many yards as I can and try to score every play.”
