A little over a year after reporting to Michigan as an early enrollee, Michigan freshman running back Kingston Davis has decided to transfer. The 6-1, 245-pounder's father told The Michigan Insider this afternoon that his son met with Jim Harbaugh earlier today to share the news of his decision.
Davis came to Michigan after setting a single season school record as a senior at Prattville (Ala.) high school with 1,656 rushing yards on 242 carries (6.8 yards per carry) and 19 touchdowns. He saw action in the Wolverines' opener last year rushing for 17 yards on two carries.
A crowded running back depth chart and talk of a potential move to fullback were cited as reasons for the decision.
After sitting out his transfer year Davis will have three years of eligibility remaining.
