Scout 300 DL Ronnie Perkins lands “surprising” U-M offer

St. Louis (Mo.) Lutheran North 2018 four-star defensive lineman Ronnie Perkins reflects back to landing his Wolverine offer and the possibility of visiting Michigan

One of the top defensive linemen in the country is St. Louis (Mo.) Lutheran North 2018 defensive end Ronnie Perkins. The Scout 300 recruit is coveted by many of the nation’s elite programs who are hoping to land his services. He recently added another when he picked up an unexpecting offer from the Wolverines.

“The defensive line coach called me and I was surprised because I hadn’t heard from them at all,” Perkins told The Michigan Insider. "We just talked about me and his coaching history. I got excited when I got the offer though.”

Michigan has turned up the level of recruiting activity in St. Louis offering a few of the other area’s finest this cycle and Perkins is grateful he’s one of them, who has the opportunity to further explore his Maize and Blue options.

“It’s definitely a great school and program,” said Perkins. “I’m excited they are recruiting me.”

Moving forward, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Perkins hopes to check out Ann Arbor because of his interest level and feelings towards Michigan’s headman, Jim Harbaugh.

“I’m very interested,” said Perkins. “I like Coach Harbaugh and the tradition. He's great at coaching and I can’t wait to meet him.”
