Scout 300 offensive lineman Verdis Brown from IMG Academy out of Bradenton, Florida made the long trek up to Ann Arbor this past weekend. The mammoth 2018 offensive tackle also came with his dad, who both wanted to meet the coaches and start building those relationships, and they did just that.
“It was nice to see the place and get to know the coaches,” Verdis told The Michigan Insider. “I talked with (Offensive Coordinator) Coach (Tim) Drevno and (Head) Coach (Jim) Harbaugh. It was good meeting Coach Harbaugh. Him and my father saw each other before when coach was playing with the Bears. He was a student at Mount Carmel and Coach came as a guest speaker.”
Brown also really enjoyed his time spent with Coach Drevno because of his energy.
“Good guy and brings a lot of juice,” said Brown. “He is exciting to be around.”
The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder came into the visit knowing about the Maize and Blue’s success on and off the field, which all rang true after visiting. However, he also left gaining further knowledge about the prestigious Michigan football heritage and now is looking to return for another trip.
“I enjoyed seeing the rich history of the school,” said Brown. I was always interested in them and still am. I’ll be back too.”
Brown added that he has no further upcoming visits at the moment
