BUFORD, Ga. -- J.J. Peterson is rated Scout’s No. 4 outside linebacker for a reason.
He’s fast, athletic, strong, heck, he crosses all the boxes necessary to be a playmaker at the collegiate level.
On Sunday, at Nikes The Opening regional held in north Atlanta -- Nike’s camp representatives thought so too -- by extending an Opening Finals invite to the four-star prospect.
“When I got it, it was just a relief,” he said of his invite.
Recruiting-wise, Peterson named Alabama as his leader in the clubhouse at Sunday’s event. However, one school he named outside of the south was Michigan, and told The Michigan Insider his initial reaction when he received the news of his U-M offer.
“When I got it I was like whoa,” Peterson said, showing his face with a eyes wide open expression.
Noting, he would like to visit U-M’s campus if he had the opportunity.
“I have never been up there, so I just want to see if it’s like home and if they are very family-wise oriented,” he said.
Adding: “I just want to know how they coach and help their players in school, and stuff.”
Upcoming, Peterson says he plans on visiting Florida State.
As of right now, Peterson doesn’t have decision timeline for his commitment.
