One of the best in the Midwest in Cleveland (OH.) Heights 2018 four-star defensive end Tyreke Smith traveled up to Ann Arbor on Wednesday to check out the Maize and Blue. The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder took in practice and got to meet several members of the Wolverine coaching staff.
“It went well,” Smith told The Michigan Insider. “I took a tour of the facility, then talked to Coach Zordich and Coach Mattison. I then took a tour of the campus and came back to watch them practice and talked to Coach Harbaugh. It was great.”
Smith also got the opportunity to briefly chat with the headman himself, Jim Harbaugh.
“I didn't talk long because it was during practice, but he is a very cool guy,” said Smith. "Told me that they were glad I was up there and what I was best at and what I needed to work on to help my game excel. I look forward to getting up there again.”
While Smith got to see and do many things during his time spent in Ann Arbor, the highlight of his trip came when he got to talk with defensive line coach Greg Mattison.
“Talking with the d-line coach because he told me what I could work on to make my game way better,” said Smith. “He was a cool man. Very experienced and honest.”
