Gant Updates Michigan Recruitment

Toledo (Ohio) St. John's Jesuit 2018 LB Dallas Gant updates his Michigan recruitment and more.

BEREA, Ohio – Following his visit to Michigan last Saturday, Dallas Gant named the Wolverines to his list of top-five schools remaining in his recruitment a few days later.

Today, just eight days after his first trip to Ann Arbor, MIch., the four-star 2018 linebacker gave U-M a positive review on his visit.

“It was a great trip,” Gant said of Michigan. “I got to meet the coaches for the first time, get on campus for the firs time. I heard great things about it. And it lived up to those expectations there. So I had a really good time.”

Along with Michigan, in no particular order, Gant has Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State rounding out his top-five. But why does Gant have Michigan in his top-five?

“I’ve been talking to them for a while, I just haven’t been up there,” Gant said. “They’re a rising football program, they just went 10-3. So coach (Jim) Harbaugh is doing a great job with them. They just put a lot of guys into the NFL. They’re just a top program for me, and top academically as well.”

With U-M expected to take one inside linebacker in 2018, Gant says Michigan’s staff makde it clear that he’s wanted at U-M.

“When I go down there they tell me I am one of the only ones they are recruiting in the moment,” Gant said. “So when I get down there I got to get ready to play, if I do come there, just get ready to play. It is kind of tempting to get there as the only 2018 linebacker. But they really showed me a lot of schemes, showed me a lot of what I would be doing if I were to come there.”

Coming up, Gant says he’s leaing towards visiting Michigan for its spring game on April 15, though, he says it’s not definite.

“If I go to Michigan I want to connect with the coaches, since I haven’t been there as much as the other places,” Gant said.

Gant says he plans to announce his commitment on his birthday, May 16.
