The Big Ten Conference held its annual spring teleconference on Wednesday. All Big Ten coaches participated in the teleconference to update the media on their teams coming out of spring practices.
The Michigan Insider recaps Jim Harbaugh's time with the media.
On important recruiting areas outside of Michigan
"I care about all of the United States of America. We look at ourselves as miners, we're panning for gold, searching for golden nuggets. Good, better and best. We've found everywhere that they play football, that's where we want to evaluate and recruit. That's the way we look at it. I'd also say that the internet has been really good. There's less and less players under the radar, video is able to be seen by everybody so that's been a great thing. As Johnny Cash would say, everywhere man."
On Wilton Speight
"Looks good. Progressed well, very important to him. He's ratcheting it up, as you'd expect, the mental process. He's hungry to learn more and more. I've been impressed, he's a very sharp individual."
On Pep Hamilton
"It's been great, Pep brings so much energy. We've worked together before but I hadn't remembered just how much energy he brings. It's really unmatched. Well, I can't say that because Don Brown brings so much energy, too. And Tim Drevno and all of our coaches. He's at the highest, highest level. 11 of a scale of 10, I guess I'm quoting Spinal Tap right now."
On anyone missing time due to injury
"Nobody is coming to mind right now."
On Grant Perry
Is he not with the team? "I didn't say that."
Has he been practicing? "No he has not been practicing."
On his memories from draft preparation
"The one that stands out is being drafted by the Chicago Bears on draft day. It was a while ago."
On why he was surprised to be drafted by Chicago?
"I hadn't heard from Chicago up until they drafted me."
