U-M’s defense appealing to Craddieth

One of the Midwest’s top safety recruits was on hand for Michigan’s spring game and talks about his experience along with much more

Michigan has been active in the St. Louis area this recruiting cycle and has targeted several of their best including Florissant (MO) Hazelwood Central 2018 safety Dallas Craddieth. He recently visited for the spring game and gave his thoughts on the Wolverines.

“The visit went pretty good,” Craddieth told The Michigan Insider. “I got to watch pregame practice, meet (Defensive Backs) Coach (Brian) Smith, (Defensive Coordinator) Coach (Don) Brown and (Head) Coach (Jim) Harbaugh. Coach Smith showed me what type of defense they run and how important the defensive backs were to the defense and I was able to tour the facility a little.”

The versatile 6-foot-1, 183-pound Craddieth also been forming a bond with Coach Smith during his visit to Ann Arbor.

“He’s a pretty cool coach,” said Craddieth. “He has a lot of experience at coaching and wants to make sure me and him have a good relationship.”

Another aspect that grabbed his attention was the game day atmosphere in the Big House the Maize and Blue faithful brought for the spring game.

“It was good,” said Craddieth. “I enjoyed it and the atmosphere was awesome especially walking in from the tunnel, the fans were going crazy.”

With offers from Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina and Wisconsin among many others, Craddieth still is looking at all his options.

However, after checking out Michigan, he also hopes they join the fold as well.

“I’m really interested after seeing what type of defense they play,” said Craddieth. “Coach Smith thinks I'd fit in perfectly. It’d mean a lot (if Michigan offered) and it'll have a big impact on my recruitment since they're a big-time school.”
