The Wolverines didn’t waste any time returning from their trip to Rome to begin hitting the recruiting trail. One of the first stops for defensive backs coach Brian Smith made was to Decatur (Ala.) Austin High School. Shortly later, 2019 cornerback Reddy Steward learned he had landed his first offer and an unexpected one from Michigan.
“The safeties coach Brian Smith came to the school (Monday) morning and I was shocked,” Steward told The Michigan Insider. “I'm extremely blessed and thankful about it.”
While the 5-foot-11, 160-pound hard hitting corner isn’t too familiar with the Wolverines just yet, he is aware of their recent draft success.
“I don't know too much them, but I'm interested learning more about the program and what the school has to offer,” said Steward. “I like how they're developing players and putting them in the league though.”
Steward hopes to check out the Maize and Blue sometime in the future to further getting to know more about them.
Since his first offer from Michigan, Steward has now also picked up his second offer from South Carolina
