Michigan has been busy on the recruiting trail as of late extending new offers all around the country. The Wolverines have recently been very active on the West Coast and offered earlier this week one of the top interior sophomore defensive linemen in Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe 2019 defensive tackle Matthew Pola-Mao.
“I called the coach and he told me the news and of course I was honored, but this by far is one of my biggest offers,” Pola-Mao told The Michigan Insider. “Michigan is a big school and just their past history means a lot to me and Mr. Jim is a great coach as well.”
The four-star prospect also holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Illinois, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, Utah and Washington. The Trojans signed his brother, Isaiah Pola-Mao in last year’s class, but the younger Pola-Mao is in no rush to make any decision with his recruitment and claims no early favorites. The 6-foot-2, 290-pounder plans to look at all his suitors and see what they have to offer, especially his most recent in the Maize and Blue.
“Pretty interested and definitely taking a visit there,” said Pola-Mao. “I am just blessed to have the opportunity for Michigan to be one of my choices.”
While Pola-Mao is still getting more familiar with the Wolverines and hopes to visit, he does know all about Jim Harbaugh’s impressive coaching resume.
“I know just that he coached for years in the NFL and it just tells me that he for sure knows what he's doing and I can benefit from that as well,” said Pola-Mao.
