Sunshine State ATH looking to visit U-M

The Wolverines have made some waves down in the Sunshine State by extending several new offers out including one to dynamic 2018 athlete Jamien Sherwood

The state of Florida has seen Michigan on a mega offer spree as of late with many prospects landing Wolverine offers including Jensen Beach (Fla.) 2018 safety Jamien Sherwood.

“(Defensive Coordinator) Coach Don (Brown) came to my school and met my coach and talked about me in their defense to him,” Sherwood told The Michigan Insider. “Later on in the week, he told my coach that they were offering me! I was excited because that's one of the schools I thought I never had a chance at. It makes me believe I can compete with the best at the next level.”

The Sunshine State standout holds offers from Florida State, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee amongst others. However, his latest offer from the Wolverines is one he’s very intrigued with, especially because of how he might fit into Don Brown’s system.

“Yes, I'm interested,” said Sherwood. “Coach sold their defense well and how I could play where I can play and I can move all around! I’ll play anywhere they need me too. I do it now (with my team), so I wouldn't mind. (I play) everything, but offensive line.”

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Sherwood also has a connection to the Wolverines in fellow Florida native and Michigan commit, Joe Milton.

“We play on a 7on7 team together,” said Sherwood. “We just met a couple months ago, but we're cool. He's a cool guy and a great quarterback and yes I could (see myself playing together with him). He’s a funny dude and he can be game-changer.”

Sherwood currently claims no favorites in his recruitment, but plans on making his final decision by August.

Before he makes that decision, he hopes to check out Ann Arbor and learn more about what they have to offer.

“Yes, probably next weekend (I’ll visit) with my mom,” said Sherwood. “I’m looking for just a great environment and good education. Not at all (will distance be a factor).”
