The Michigan basketball coaching staff is working on building a target list for the 2018 recruiting class.
Some of those 2018 targets involve in-state players, as the Wolverines are looking to make an impact in the state with the hire of assistant coach Saddi Washington last year.
2018 three-star small forward Gabe Brown is one of those in-state targets but has yet to receive an offer from the Wolverines. He took an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor on Monday and came away very impressed with what the campus has to offer. In fact, a simple act by head coach John Beilein left an impression on Brown.
"When I was in [John] Beilein's office, he was playing my highlight clips from the AAU season and commenting on them," Brown said. "That was something amazing for a head coach to sit there and watch you on his screen while you're there. All I have to say is thanks to that man above, my dad."
Brown's father passed away last year.
As for now, Brown says that the coaching staff will continue to recruit him and are looking for him to continue to grow his game.
Working hard on and off the court was the general message both Washington and Beilein gave to Brown.
"They said just keep working on and off the court," Brown said. "They said I got a chance to play just gotta keep working. They said I have a lot of potential and they are going to keep recruiting me."
Brown has a busy month of June ahead, with visits scheduled to Missouri, Oakland, Duquesne, Illinois, Purdue and a pending visit to Michigan State.
