2019 UCLA commit Chris Steele talks Michigan offer

2019 four-star defensive back Chris Steele discusses his offer from Michigan and commitment status with UCLA.

From Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco, 2019 four-star cornerback Chris Steele picked up a Michigan offer on June 11th.

Steele earned the offer from coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive backs coach Brian Smith at the Rising Stars Camp at USC.

"I didn't even participate in the camp, but coach Brian Smith was telling me that he really likes my film," he told The Michigan Insider. "I wasn't expecting it, but I wasn't doubting it either."

Steele has offers to play for UCLA, Alabama, Arizona State, Boise State, Boston College, Florida Atlantic, Illinois, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oregon, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Brigham Young, Colorado, Howard, Jackson State, Nebraska, San Diego State, USC, Utah, and Washington State.

Even though Steele is committed to UCLA, he likes other schools. The cornerback committed to play for the Bruins on January 30th

"I'm committed to UCLA and I love UCLA," said Steele. "But, I like every other school in a different way. I really don't have a certain school that is above the rest besides UCLA. The relationships I've built with the coaches (at UCLA) is just amazing. It's like family."

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound athlete will try to visit Michigan sometime this summer. He will "definitely" visit before he makes a decision regarding the Wolverines.

"I want to build a relationship with the whole coaching staff (at Michigan) so that we can have a good relationship if I decide to go there," he said. "I definitely have to consider Michigan because I know I'll be prepared for the next level if I did decide to go there."
