Marcus Freeman Down to Three

There were conflicting reports on whether Wayne High School (Huber Heights, OH) LB Marcus Freeman was going to make his decision at the end of this month, or wait until after the U-M-OSU game in November. GBW spoke with Freeman Sunday to clear things up. Did Michigan make the final cut?

Marcus Freeman (U.S. Army Combine stats: 6-2, 225 lbs, 4.66 in the 40, 4.22 shuttle, 30-inch vertical jump, 28 bench press reps. of 185 lbs. ... U-M Nike stats: 6-1, 235, 4.62 in the 40, 4.37 sec. shuttle, 32.4 inch vertical, 25 bench press reps. … 430-pound bench press, 575 lb. Squat, 3.6 GPA/18 ACT/990 SAT) attended the Ohio State - North Carolina State game Saturday, and spent the night with a friend in Columbus. GBW caught up with Freeman when he returned home Sunday.

He said he was able to catch part of the Michigan route of Notre Dame, "It was a good game. Michigan has a great team."

Freeman said a decision is near, "I'm about 95% sure I'm going to make my decision on September 24 at my school." He will have some visitors, "The people from the Army All-Star game will be there, I think to present me with my uniform for their game, so I'll probably make my announcement then."

Freeman has been one of the hottest linbacker prospects in the country, but has narrowed his list down to three, "It's going to come down to Ohio State, Notre Dame, and ... Michigan."

It should be noted that Freeman initially left Michigan off his list.

"I need to sit down with my parents and go over each school and see which one is best for me," Freeman said. "They're all pretty even right now until I do that. Ohio State is close to home and has a great atmosphere. Michigan and Notre Dame have great programs and great traditions."
