Michigan - Minnesota Moved to Friday Night

The Big Ten will announce today that the upcoming Michigan - Minnesota game, originaly scheduled for Saturday, October 11, will instead be played on Friday, October 10.

The decision to move the game was made because the Major League Baseball Minnesota Twins, which share the Metrodome with the Gophers, clinched a playoff berth Tuesday night. A conflict with the MLB playoffs loomed. Major League Baseball officials refused to allow the Gophers to play on the same day as post-season baseball games.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports the Big Ten made the decision after a conference call with athletic directors Tuesday morning. An announcement will be made today (Wednesday).

A decision to move the scheduled Oct. 18th game between the Gophers and Michigan State was delayed until after the American League Divisional Series.
