West Coast WR Briefs

GoBlueWolverine Magazine talked with Culver City (Calif) WR Jaison Williams and De La Salle (Concord, Calif) WR Cameron Colvin Monday evening. Both had mentioned recently that the Michigan coaches hadn't been in contact. Has that changed over the weekend?

Culver City (Calif) WR Jaison Williams (6-4, 212 lbs., 4.49 in the 40, 260 bench press, 2.6 GPA, 840 SAT) hadn't heard from the U-M coaches in a while, but he said on Monday, "We've been playing phone tag this weekend. I was supposed to call today but (Culver City Head) Coach (John) Salter didn't get back into his office today. I'll call them tomorrow."

Williams had 4 catches for 96 yards and one touchdown in Culver City's dismantling of El Segundo Friday night.

Williams list of schools has changed since we last spoke to him. Previously Michigan was his clear leader, "SC is in the lead now but not by a lot," he said. "Right now I think all the schools are about even."

Williams is scheduled to visit Michigan on Oct 25th for the Purdue game, "I'm pretty excited about it," he said. "It's my first trip and Purdue is a pretty good team so it should be a good game."

He has two other visits set up, "After Michigan I go to Oregon on November 7th, then I go to Washington on December 14th," Williams said. "I'm not sure what date yet but I'll visit USC sometime in January."

De La Salle (Concord, Calif) WR Cameron Colvin (Sept. 13 official visit, STAN Nike stats: 6-1, 188 lbs., 4.31 in the 40, 3.85 shuttle, 32.4 inch vertical, 13 bench press reps. … 2.5 GPA/16 ACT) is set to put on the pads for the first time this season when the Spartans face off this Friday against Freedom High School. Colvin had mentioned to GBW recently that he also hadn't heard from the U-M coaches in a while, but that changed Sunday, "I talked to both Coach Carr and Coach English last night (Sunday)," he said. "They asked how I was doing and stuff. I'm happy they called and things are cool."

Colvin is The Insiders #1 receiver in the West and #3 nationally.
