Top Recruits Visiting This Weekend

Michigan has joined the ranks of schools doing big-time scheduling of official visits for home game weekends. This Illinois game weekend welcomes several top prospects from far away.

- (pictured above) DL Alan Branch (Oct. 18 official visit, 2003 U-M Camper, 6-6, 300 lbs., 5.2 in the 40, 4.65 in the shuttle, 2.5 GPA/17 ACT) from Albuquerque, New Mex., Cibola. On Sept. 13th he told us, "I talked to Coach English and Coach Sheridan recently. Coach English is setting things up for me to visit on October 17th. "I have a game that Thursday so I'll be able to fly up to Michigan early Friday." He also has an Oct. 4 visit scheduled to ASU, and is considering visiting Washington and Texas A&M as well. He attended the U-M Camp for the whole week but didn't commit. He attended the US Army Combine in January. His parents are from Detroit, and his mom went to U-M for a year. He has a U-M OFFER.


Thomas Herring

- DE Thomas Herring (Oct. 18 official visit, 6-6, 290 lbs., 5.06 in the 40, 3.2 GPA, June 7 test) from Los Angeles Fremont. Recently he told us, "We set it up for me to come back for the October 18th game against Illinois. Michigan is my first visit and I'm excited … USC and Miami are probably my top schools," he said. "Then it's Michigan, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame. Those are the schools I plan to visit (note: he may make the USC visit unofficial and make an official visit to LSU). My mom wants me to leave the state though, so there's no problem with that." Note: he lives near the USC campus. He is's #49 prospect.


Keston Cheathem

- CB/S Keston Cheathem (Oct. 18 official visit, 6-2, 185 lbs., 4.55 in the 40, 2.8 GPA, 820 SAT)) from Pomona, Calif. On Oct. 14 he confirmed his Oct. 18 U-M official visit: "I'm excited. I'm not sure what to expect but I'm going to give things a good look." Cheathem has already made visits to Washington and Washington State. "Those went good," he said. "They were my first visits and I had a good time." After Michigan Cheathem said he plans to visit Oregon State and Colorado, "I don't have those set up yet but I want to get them out of the way soon after Michigan. Cheathem is underrated as's #43 Pac Ten area prospect.


Eugene Germany

- OLB/DE Eugene Germany (Oct. 18 official visit, USC Nike stats: 6-3 1/2, 248 lbs…. 4.65 in the 40, 2.3 GPA).On Oct. 14 he confirmed to his Oct. 18 official visit, saying, "It's always been Michigan and USC." He has already made an official visit to Washington State (Oct. 3) and has a tentative visit set with Oregon State for (Oct. 31). His last two visits will be to LSU and USC. He grew up a U-M fan, and his coach and his recruiter Ron English and one of his assistant coaches are friends. As a junior he made166 tackles and nine sacks; he also caught 14 passes for 321 yards and four touchdowns. He is's #16 Pac Ten area prospect.
