Dwayne Hendricks: Visiting or Not?

There have been mixed reports recently in the visit schedule of top New Jersey DE Dwayne Hendricks. Is he making an official visit to Michigan this coming weekend? Or not at all? Here's what we found out.

Defensive end Dwayne Hendricks (PSU Nike stats: 6-4, 250 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 30 inch vertical jump … 3.2 GPA/910 SAT) from Millville, New Jersey is TheInsiders.com's #32 prospect. So we've been excited about him since spring, when he made an unofficial visit with Millville head coach Dave Heck for a U-M spring practice and, at the PSU Nike Camp, told us U-M was in his top three. Then about a month ago he told us he and his coach were coming for an official visit this coming weekend, for the Purdue game (he has a former teammate on the Boilermakers). However, in recent days there have been reports that have backed off from this, quoting him only as saying he 'might' visit Michigan sometime.

Dwayne is a hard kid to reach, and he also is letting his coach handle his recruiting details (which could be the reason for conflicting reports from him). However, we reached the Hendricks home, and were told that the Michigan visit for this coming weekend was 'on': "Coach Sheridan called us and Coach Heck a few days ago to make the final arrangements. Coach Heck has the (airline) tickets."

THis spring I observed Dwayne at the PSU Nike Camp, after which I wrote: "Defensive end Dewayne Hendricks reminded us physically of Pierre Woods. In the lineman drills he was strong, quick and agile. He was definitely one of the top ten players at the PSU Nike."
