As stated in our "Bye Week Bonanza" article below, the AP Writers' Poll has mirrored the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll in it's Top 5 this week -- and Michigan is #5 in both.

1. Oklahoma 10-0
2. USC 7-1
3. LSU 8-1
4. Ohio State 8-1
5. Michigan 8-2
Michigan's is the highest ranking for a 2-loss team at this stage of the season in the BCS era. Why?
From ESPN.com, here is the number of teams with less than two losses through Nov. 8 in the BCS era. The drop this year is startling.
2003 -- 4
2002 -- 10
2001 -- 11
2000 -- 9
1999 -- 8
1998 -- 11
As we stated yesterday, ESPN predicts that today's (Monday) BCS Poll will have:
-- Oklahoma and USC and ranked #1 and #2;
-- LSU and OSU reversed relative to the polls, with OSU #3 and LSU #4;
-- Michigan at #5.
But Michigan's #5 is not a certainty -- stay tuned for the BCS poll later today (Monday).
Conclusion: this has been a crazy, roller-coaster year so far for college football. But then, you don't have to tell that to Michigan fans! And with the climax yet to come, fasten your seat belts and keep your hands inside the coaster at all times!
