Jamar Adams Is Coming Up!

Michigan fans have been worried that Michigan commitment DB Jamar Adams is taking official visits. So we decided to check up on Jamar -- and, lo and behold, he had a surprise for us!

We talked early Thurs. evening to Michigan commitment #12: Safety Jamar Adams (Sept. 6 official visit, 2003 U-M Camper, 2001 U-M Camper, V-Tech Nike stats: 6-2 1/2,193 lbs., 4.13 sec. Shuttle, 33.2 inch vertical jump … 3.0 GPA/940 SAT) from Matthews, N.C., Butler.

Hi Jamar.

"Hi Tom. I'll be up in Ann Arbor Saturday! I'll say 'Hi' when I see you!"

You're coming for an unofficial visit?

"Yeah. Coach Campbell told me there would be several recruits there -- so I said to myself, 'You gotta get up there and help them recruit, we gotta get some guys!"

So your Michigan commitment is still firm?

"Yes sir!"

I see you've got some official visits scheduled now.

"Yes sir. As I told you when I committed, I said to Michigan at the time that I'd like to take some visits, and they said to go ahead. I've got three scheduled now: UCLA December 12th, (North) Carolina January 9th, and FSU January 23rd. I think I'll visit Virginia Tech as well. "

Your season is over now?

Yes, we lost in the playoffs to Richmond County, 20-6. They are a big-time program, last year they were ranked nationally. It was a very close game, 6-3 at the half. And then in the second half we got to their 7 yard line, and went for it on 4th down thinking it was 4th and 1. Instead we needed 2 yards, and we quarterback-sneaked it and didn't make it. The got the ball back, and they ran an option where they threw it deep to the side of the field away from me -- our other safety fell down, but I got over there and leaped and tipped the ball, but it fell into the arms of the receiver and he went for a touchdown."

What do you think of the Big Game Saturday?

"I think we are a better team than Ohio State. Our special teams don't have to win it for us or anything -- all they have to do is keep us in the game. And Steve Breaston is a great returner. Besides, we have the better offense -- I don't think Ohio State will be able to keep up."

For his senior season, Adams made 75 tackles, eight interceptions, and three sacks. On offense as a wide receiver he made 41 receptions for 647 yards and 13 touchdowns.
