Michigan Win Doesn't Influence Gholston

Detroit Cass Tech's Vernon Gholston was in attendence during last Saturday's Michigan - Ohio State game. Michigan's dominating performance didn't seem to sway the talented player one way or the other.

TheInsiders three-star DL Vernon Gholston (2003 U-M Camper, U-M Nike stats: 6-3, 235 lbs., 4.45 in the 40, 31 bench press reps. … 2.9 GPA, 930 SAT) spoke with GoBlueWolverine Magazine on Friday about his experience during the 100th playing of the Michigan - Ohio State football game. "It was pretty good, definitely a good win for Michigan," Gholston said. "There were a lot of people there, I guess that's why they call it the Big House. My coach introduced me to a couple of former Michigan players after the game and they all told me how great it was to be at Michigan. I also talked a little bit with the safety from North Carolina (Jamar Adams). I didn't root for either team, I just enjoyed the game, it was a lot of fun."

Gholston has an official visit set up for Michigan on December 5 and has recently set up a visit to Ohio State for January 16. He hasn't set a visit date for Michigan State yet. Those three appear to be the front-runners for the talented player but nobody really stands out. "I'm going to take all my visits before I decide," Gholston said. "The problem is all the schools I'm looking at have what I'm looking for. They all have good winning traditions producing good athletes. I'm undecided what I want to do in college but I'm looking at pursuing engineering. I've talked to a couple people about the programs at the different schools I'm looking at."

Gholston said he has no plans to participate in any winter sports but may run track in the spring. He said he runs the 100 and the relay, and may do the shot-put as well.
