Michigan Hoops Wins OT Thriller 61-60

The Michigan Wolverine Men's Basketball team traveled to Indianapolis Sunday night to take on Butler University at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Wolverines came away with their third victory of the season after an exciting 61-60 overtime win over the Bulldogs.

Michigan took it's third game of the season into overtime and pulled out the 61-60 win. Michigan jumped out to a 10 point first half lead and took a nine point lead into the halftime locker room at 32-23.

Butler clawed back in the second half and regulation ended with the teams locked up at 52.

Michigan went up 57-54 in the overtime period on an NBA-range three-point shot by sophomore guard Daniel Horton. Butler pulled ahead at 58-57 with 30 seconds left. The teams then exchanged field goals to get to 59-60 Butler. Horton hit two free-throws with seven seconds left and U-M took the lead for good. The Wolverines held off a final Bulldog charge at the end to seal the win and improve to 3-0 on the season.

It was the third game of the year for both teams and Michigan's first road game of the season.

Michigan made 9-10 free-throws at the end of regulation through the overtime period to help secure the win.

Michigan Head Coach Tommy Amaker said after the game, "I thought our kids showed a lot of heart being down. We knew we were going to be challenged. We hoped to do better then we did but to come down and beat a quality program is good for our kids."

Butler's Michael Monserez led all scorers with 23 points. Daniel Horton led Michigan with 16, including the winning free-throws at the end of overtime.

Michigan next takes on the number 25 ranked Wolfpack of North Carolina State on Tueday at Crisler Arena. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
