Perry Finishes 4th in Heisman Voting

Chris Perry's story of perseverance was one of the highlights of the award show, but the UM tailback couldn't mount enough votes to come home with the award.

When all of the dust settled, Oklahoma’s Jason White took home the 69th Heisman trophy award Saturday at the Yale Club in New York City. The Sooner gun-slinger was aided by getting a large number of votes prior to the Big 12 title game (over 50% of the ballots were cast prior to the opening kick). Chris Perry’s story of triumph in the face of adversity was one of a number of similar accounts revealed at the ceremony, but that did not dim the inspiring tone of the words of he and his mother (who is currently fighting breast cancer). In the end, it turned out to be a two-horse race for the award (between White and Fitzgerald)…with White taking home the gold.

Final Heisman Voting tally:
1st place votes 2nd place votes 3rd place votes Total Points
Jason White 319 204 116 1481
Larry Fitzgerald 253 233 128 1353
Eli Manning 95 132 161 710
Chris Perry 27 66 128 341

Votes for 3 players are cast on each ballot, with three points awarded for first place, two for second and one for third.
