We asked the father of DE Ryan Baker (Oct. 25 official visit, 2003 U-M Camper, 6-5, 235 lbs., 4.9 in the 40, 3.5 GPA) from Indianapolis, Ind., Bishop Chatard:
What's the latest with Ryan?
"We went to Boston College for Ryan's last official visit. He's made official visits to Purdue, Michigan, BC and Oklahoma. And now Notre Dame has popped with an offer -- they sent it in writing. I don't see opportunity for an official visit to Notre Dame, and their season is over. But Ryan and I were up there last weekend for an unofficial visit."
When might he make his decision?
"I thought Ryan might decide by Dec. 1st. But Notre Dame coming back online has turned that sideways. So I don't know when Ryan will decide. Sooner rather than later though I think. I doubt seriously we'll hold off until February. It's possible he'll announce sometime before the US Army Game (Jan. 3). Tom Lemming would like him to announce during the game ..."
Is Michigan still in it for Ryan?
"Is Michigan still in it -- absolutely. I don't think any of the schools are out of it. Actually we thought we'd be down to three, Michigan, Purdue and Boston College. And now Notre Dame is in it as well."
