Doucet to LSU?

During their Miami camp visit, De La Salle (Concord, Calif) WR Cameron Colvin and St. Martinsville (LA) WR Early Doucet developed a friendship and expressed a desire to attend school together. GoBlueWolverine Magazine spoke with Colvin Friday morning and he had some news regarding Doucet.

"Early called me and left a message saying he is going to LSU," De La Salle (Concord, Calif) WR Cameron Colvin (Sept. 13 official visit, STAN Nike stats: 6-1, 188 lbs., 4.31 in the 40, 3.85 shuttle, 32.4 inch vertical, 13 bench press reps. 2.5 GPA/16 ACT/860 SAT) said. "I haven't called him back yet but I'm just about to head out the door to go to Oregon."

GoBlueWolverine Magazine attempted to contact Doucet to confirm but an announcement for LSU would not be surprising as he was thought to be headed for Baton Rouge all along. The Tigers recent BCS Championship certainly didn't hurt things.

Colvin and Early Doucet visited Miami at the same time for their summer camp and developed a friendship that had them talking about attending school together, even going so far as to try and visit Michigan at the same time. While that attempt fell through the two stayed in touch, reuniting again at the recent U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

What recruiting fans want to know is did the commit of Doucet to LSU, if confirmed, have any bearing on Colvin's decision, as LSU was not on his final list of three schools. "No, it doesn't effect me at all," he said. "I'm still down to Michigan, Miami, and USC." Colvin visits Oregon this weekend, then trips to USC (1/16), Miami (1/23), and Florida State (1/30). He previously told GBW he may not take the FSU visit though.

Colvin has said for some time he will wait until signing day to make his announcemnt, on Friday he gave a little more detail on how he will go about it. "I'll probably announce on ESPN with Tom Lemming," he said.

Colvin suffered a hip-pointer at the Army game. He said while his hip was still sore he was feeling better.
