Did Germany Commit?

The Los Angeles Daily News reported Saturday that Eugene Germany from Pomona (Calif.) High School made a verbal commitment to the USC Trojans during his visit over the weekend. On Sunday Germany told GoBlueWolverine Magazine how the visit went.

Eugene Germany Oct. 18 official visit, USC Nike stats: 6 foot 3 1/2, 248 pounds. 4.65 in the 40, 2.4 GPA, 17 ACT), the talented four-star defensive lineman from Pomona (Calif.) was originally going to make his school choice public at the Jan. 2 CaliFlorida Bowl Game along with team-mate Keston Cheathem. While Cheathem did make his announcement for Michigan Germany decided to postpone his announcement until after his last visit, which was to USC this weekend. Saturday night the Los Angeles Daily News reported that Germany made his decision to attend USC along with Thomas Herring and Rocky Hinds. "No, I didn't make any commitment," Germany said. "I was thinking about it and Tom-Tom (Herring) and Rocky made their commitments, but I didn't."

Germany told GoBlueWolverine Magazine earlier that he would be making his announcement upon returning from his USC visit, now he is once again delaying his decision. "I have to think about it," he said. "I had a real good time on the visit and I like SC a lot, but I also like Michigan a lot too so I have to really look at both schools and think about things. I will have a decison by Tuesday."

The big man said his host for the visit was Alex Holmes and he got to hang out with Holmes, Hinds, and Trojan quarterback Matt Leinart for most of the weekend. He said he also spent some time with Cameron Colvin from De La Salle (Concord, Calif.). "Cameron didn't commit either," Germany said. "Tom-Tom and Rocky stood up at the party Saturday but Colvin and I didn't, we just sat down. He said he likes USC and Michigan too and we talked a little about it but not much."

Germany said he's had a USC offer since the summer. "They offered my back in June or July, close to the beginning of practice," he said.
