Doug Dutch: "Yeah, I'm excited!"

We talked this afternoon to Michigan's 20th commitment, and's as the #74 prospect, D.C. wide receiver Doug Dutch.

Doug Dutch (Dec. 12 official visit, 6-2, 185 lbs., 4.3 in the 40, 3.9 GPA) from Washington D.C. Gonzaga is ranked even higher by SuperPrep, #31.

We asked Doug why he picked Michigan.

"Michigan is the best fit for me, academically and athletically. But it was a tough decision, and really it came down to a gut feeling. I felt comfortable at Michigan -- comfortable with the other freshmen coming in, and comfortable with the current players and the coaches."

Talking about the other recruits coming in with you: you got to play with Chad Henne in Army All American All Star Game?

Yeah. Actually we were on our official visit to Michigan together, so we already knew each other. But then to play on same team as Chad for a week before the US Army game ... that was great. Were you there to see the practices? Chad got to throw me a lot of passes that week, and we worked really well together. In the game I was mostly a kick returner.

Who finished second for you?

"All the rest of the schools were pretty much tied ...maybe Florida and Maryland were next."

Are you okay if Michigan signs one more receiver, Cameron Colvin or Adrian Arrington?

"Sure. That's fine with me. They only have about two or three scholarships left, but that'd be fine. And there's Morgan Trent too. And I'm looking forward to working with the receivers already on the team -- I got to know Jason Avant and Carl Tabb pretty well."

"I'm just glad to be here, to be a Wolverine! I can't wait to get up there to Ann Arbor now!"
