There ARE Two Official Visitors This Weekend

First there were two visitors for this weekend, then possibly more than two, then it was back to one -- and yesterday it settled in at two. With all the Doug Dutch excitement yesterday, we saved this report for this (Sat.) morning.

The Jan. 23 Michigan Official Visit Weekend:

- OL/DL Dumaka Atkins (Jan. 23 official visit, 6-4, 280 lbs., 4.9 in the 40, 300 lb. bench press, 3.25 GPA/1110 SAT) from Sarasota, Fla., Booker. He visited FSU last weekend but didn't commit. He told Allen Wallace on Wed., "Right now I like Florida St because I've been there and am really familiar with them," and about Michigan he added, "They have good tradition and they are always near the top of the Big Ten and always compete for the national championship." (Read here for the whole interview: Atkins talks to Wallace). Michigan and FSU will be his only two visits, and he will decide after his U-M visit. He is SuperPrep's #21 Florida prospect, and was a participant in the Califlorida game.

He is taking his visit:
- Punter Johnny Ayers (6-1, 175 lbs., 3.7 GPA) from Vienna, Vir. (a suburb of D.C.), James Madison. He visited Boston College last weekend and got a 'greyshirt offer' (being offered a scholarship for January, which would count towards the next class). Michigan has not matched the offer so far (the interest is in Ayers as a walk-on), but he IS in for an official visit. Ayers was a quarterback for his high school team (James Madison is a powerhouse program), who as a punter averaged 42 yards per kick (with, reportedly, a very good hang time).
