Tim Jamison: "I'm coming to Michigan!"

We got the commitment story from Michigan's 22nd commitment, Illinois defensive end Tim Jamison.

Tim Jamison (Jan. 9 Michigan official visit, 6-3, 225 lbs., 2.25 GPA, Dec. ACT) is from Harvey, Ill., Thornton -- the alma mater of former Wolverine great Tai Streets. His dad went over to his friends' house Thurs. night and brought him home just to do this interview! Thanks Mr. Jamison!

You didn't have a press conference! So when did you make your commitment?

"I actually called Coach Moeller last night and told him I was coming to Michigan!"

When did you know it was Michigan? And who finished second?

"Well ... it was hard. I just made up my mind yesterday. I just felt more comfortable with Michigan."

Why did you feel more comfortable at Michigan?

"I felt at home with the coaches and players there. And I really like the academic support at Michigan -- that was a strong point."

Did you get to know the other Michigan guys at the U.S. Army Game?

"Oh yeah! Definitely! Max Martin and Chad Henne, and Jeremy Ciulla -- they were all on my team. They all talked to me. Max -- man, he talked to me a lot! And Doug Dutch was on my team too, and now he's coming. It's great to already know several of my future teammates!"

(Note: and from the West, Alan Branch and Adrian Arrington)

Where do you see yourself playing? OLB? or DE?

"Definitely defensive end."

Has Michigan talked to you about playing as a freshman?

"They told me I have a great opportinuty. I'll be going up to Ann Arbor as soon as I get out of school. And I'll play hard in summer camp."

You had 18 sacks this season! You really jumped out of nowhere to grab everyone's attention!

"I just wanted to go out and lead team to a great season. This was my last year and I wanted to make the most of it! And I hope to be able to do the same thing at Michigan!"

For his senior season Jamison recorded 34 solo tackles, 45 assists, 18 sacks, three fumble recoveries, 12 pass deflections and three blocked kicks.

Tim was a top-three performer in the U.S. Army Game, and according to Tom Lemming is the #1 Midwest prospect overall this year! He is also a USA Today 2nd team All-American and the #6 prospect in the Detroit Free Press' Best of the Midwest Team.
